MAFTO Board of Directors

MAFTO is a food trade organization based in Philadelphia, PA.

Four Philadelphia-based trade organizations, with long and successful histories, merged to create MAFTO: the Association of Manufacturers Representatives (AMR), the Tri State Food Marketing Association, the Philadelphia Food Trades Organization and the Mid Atlantic Frozen Foods Association.

This merger became official on January 1, 2005. MAFTO's goal is to raise money in order to donate it to those in need and to promote the food industry through education and scholarship. Money is raised through our great social and trade related events: General Membership Dinners, the Annual Golf Outing, the Food Show, the Christmas For All Kids Party and the Dinner-Dance Weekend in Atlantic City, NJ.

With your help and support, MAFTO will enjoy a long and successful life. We will also be able to focus on our core goal of raising money in order to distribute it to those in need. To date, the combined trade organizations have given away more than $1,000,000.

Presidents Message

Nancy Rodgers-FluhartyHello! My name is Nancy Rodgers-Fluharty, executive sales director at Pace Target Brokerage. It is my honor and privilege to serve as the 2017 President of the Mid-Atlantic Food Trades Organization (MAFTO).

MAFTO is a result of four different groups (one in business for more than 100 years) merging together to form one strong trade association, serving the food industry in the greater Mid-Atlantic region. Members of MAFTO include food industry retailers, brokers, wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers, plus many other related businesses all of whom reach consumers throughout the region. MAFTO provides networking opportunities as well as fun filled events to help raise money for our charities and college scholarships. Our meetings and events feature networking with cocktail receptions and dinner, while food industry leaders enlighten MAFTO members with news specific to their company and our industry.

Our first event of the year is our Winter Retailer Dinner on February 16th featuring Dan Croce of Acme Markets.

MAFTO sponsors what traditionally is the first of the annual golf outings each spring on the first Monday in May. And somehow, the golf committee always provides us with a glorious day (and a great prize table too!). Often, smaller companies unable to provide their own outing use MAFTO'S golf outing to entertain customers, reward employees, or to visit with prospective customers.

We have scheduled our Fall Retailer Dinner on October 5th featuring Jason Homola of Wawa Markets.

MAFTO's Signature Gala, formerly the Dinner Dance Weekend, sets the standards for trade event networking. This year's honoree will be announced shortly. A casual welcome cocktail reception Friday evening and a hearty breakfast Sunday morning bookend a Saturday evening formal gala, with a sumptuous cocktail party, dinner and dancing. The Signature Gala enables MAFTO to raise funds to sustain our non-profit organization throughout the year. Additionally we are able to enhance our college scholarship fund with proceeds from this event. We have long surpassed $1 million in scholarships to qualified members, their families and dependents, regardless of their field of study.

We always end out the year with my personal favorite as we host "Christmas for All Kids." This event is held the first Friday in December. We get together for a Monte Carlo Night where attendees enjoy "funny money" gaming, networking, cocktails and dinner with the proceeds benefiting community-based charitable organizations. Additionally, all guests are asked to bring new, unwrapped toys, which are distributed to help provide smiles to needy children during the holiday season.

Other functions of MAFTO include "Save-A-Life" and "Sunshine" committees. Sometimes bad things happen. Sometimes horrible things happen. When loss or tragedy occur in our industry, be it competitor or associate, buyer or seller, manufacturer or distributor, we are here to provide some relief, in at least a modest way, in the truest sense of charity; quietly, unadvertised, and lovingly.

In closing, I am excited about 2017 and want to thank you for your time and commitment to the Mid-Atlantic Food Trades Organization. It is wonderful to see the people we bring together and lives we touch through our events and charitable work. Please come join us! Membership is free. Support us, attend our events and learn more about this great industry. You will always be welcomed! For more information or event registration please visit www.mafto.org.
