MAFTO Board of Directors

MAFTO is a food trade organization based in Philadelphia, PA.

Four Philadelphia-based trade organizations, with long and successful histories, merged to create MAFTO: the Association of Manufacturers Representatives (AMR), the Tri State Food Marketing Association, the Philadelphia Food Trades Organization and the Mid Atlantic Frozen Foods Association.

This merger became official on January 1, 2005. MAFTO's goal is to raise money in order to donate it to those in need and to promote the food industry through education and scholarship. Money is raised through our great social and trade related events: General Membership Dinners, the Annual Golf Outing, the Food Show, the Christmas For All Kids Party and the Dinner-Dance Weekend in Atlantic City, NJ.

With your help and support, MAFTO will enjoy a long and successful life. We will also be able to focus on our core goal of raising money in order to distribute it to those in need. To date, the combined trade organizations have given away more than $1,000,000.

Presidents Message

Scott VicariGreetings! My name is Scott Vicari, Senior Account Director at PromoPoint Marketing (PPM). PPM is a promotional marketing agency specializing in the supermarket trade. I have the honor and privilege of serving as the 2018 president of the Mid-Atlantic Food Trades Organization (MAFTO).

MAFTO is the most influential and relevant food trades organization in the Greater Philadelphia Market. Formed by the merger of four different groups, it has served the retail food industry in one form or another for more than 100 years.

With the many changes facing our industry the need for an organization like MAFTO has never been greater. We are in a unique position to bring together manufacturers, brokers, wholesalers, distributors, service providers and retailers for meaningful dialog at a variety of networking events throughout the year. I can think of no better way to stay abreast of the industry then to hear firsthand from its key leadership over cocktails and dinner.

In addition, MAFTO is a philanthropic organization awarding college scholarships to qualified members, their families and dependents regardless of their field of study. Over the years we have awarded more than $1,000,000 in scholarships. We also organize and execute several community service projects during the year which have included serving dinner at Hope Lodge for cancer patients, volunteering at Philabundance and providing toys to needy children at Christmas. We encourage all our members to participate in these initiatives. Our Sunshine and Save-A-Life committees reach out to people in our industry experiencing challenging circumstances or tragedy with words of encouragement, a helping hand and financial assistance. Our charity is always offered discreetly and with love.

Our membership is free and open to anyone in the food trades or supporting industries employed in a professional, management or leadership capacity. We fund our organization and charitable efforts through the several events we hold and therefore ask that our members attend at least one event per year to remain a member in good standing.

Our first event of the year will be our first quarter retailer dinner; details will be available soon. Next up is our annual golf outing, always the first of the season and an industry favorite, on April 30th at Commonwealth Country Club. Enjoy a beautiful spring day with industry leaders on the links, cocktails and dinner in the evening and fabulous door prizes too. If your company does not have the resources to hold their own golf outing this event is perfect to entertain customers or reward employees.

Over the summer we fill the lazy hazy days with seasonal family activities and in the early fall we will host a retailer dinner with a guest speaker that will be announced in the near future.
Our biggest event of the year takes place the first weekend in November where we devote the entire weekend to honor a key retailer in our market. We hope to have big news shortly. The event takes place in Atlantic City, NJ and features a Friday night dance party, Saturday afternoon excursions, and a Saturday evening reception that culminates in a fabulous night of dinner and dancing. Sunday morning, we provide a lavish buffet breakfast before you head for home. It all adds up to the most memorable event of the year!

On the first Friday in December we close out the year with our perennial favorite, Christmas for All Kids Monte Carlo Night! Come enjoy a night of networking, great food and fun. Bring an unwrapped new toy and use your "funny money" to play casino games for a chance to win great prizes. All the toys from the event are donated locally to needy children.

One of the nicest things about being a member of MAFTO is, in addition to all the new people you will meet, are all the familiar faces you will see at our events. I have been in this business for many years; getting my start at A&P (PLUS and Super Fresh) and I am always thrilled that am so often able to "catch up" with so many of the people that have been a part of my professional experience in a relaxed social setting. You don't need to be a member of MAFTO to attend an event. We hope you will come out to one this year and see for yourself what we are all about. For more information please visit

I am very excited about our plans for MAFTO in 2018 and the rewarding experiences it promises to bring. On behalf of everyone on the board of directors we sincerely thank you for your support of MAFTO and look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon.
